Danny
The first travelling Ashtanga teacher. Probably.
“Golden opportunities to travel the world on wild pilgrimages and adventures. It’s been quite a ride and it’s not over yet.”
- First Ashtanga practice
- 1976
- Began teaching with David Williams
- 1979
- Pattabhi Jois’ first public advanced series, Maui
- 1980
I learnt the classical sequences from David Williams and Nancy Gilgoff, and studied with K. Pattabhi Jois in Hawaii in 1978 and 1980. Since then I’ve taught students and teachers of every tradition — among them Sting, Madonna and Paul Simon — and many now run schools of their own.
My influences run from Krishnamurti, the Buddha, Jesus and Shiva to the shamanic traditions of the Americas, the Pacific, Tibet, Africa, Egypt and Hawaii. The aim is simple: a sacred, private, safe, healing, non-dogmatic practice you can keep for life.
